Supporting Sense - The Big Abseil

Supporting Sense - The Big Abseil

On 29th September 2016, five of our very brave co-workers decided to abseil down a 210ft (64m), 16 story office block, at 54 Hagley Road, Birmingham all in the name of charity.

The fundraiser, held by Pennycuick Collins, has so far raised over £2650.00 for the charity Sense.

Sense is a national charity that supports people who are deafblind, have sensory impairments or complex needs, to enjoy more independent lives. Established in 1955 by a group of families affected by rubella, the charity now offers a range of services including; a variety of housing options, resource centres, educational support, short breaks and arts, sport and wellbeing programmes.

Deafblindness is a combination of sight and hearing loss that affects a person’s ability to communicate, to access all kinds of information, and to get around. There are approximately 358,000 people in the UK who are deafblind, with the figure estimated to rise to half a million by 2030.

The money raised will go towards helping Sense to continue to provide its vital services and support to individuals with communication needs, as well as their families and carers.
